Last year I campaigned hard to save the South City Beach Kiosk – the only untouched remaining example of these great WA icons by architect Tony Brand – from threatened demolition.

I wrote letters to the editor, letters to the council and waged an Instagram war against its destruction.

This year, we’ve heard the tremendous news the the kiosk will be saved!

After a public survey that elicited 1300 responses – 90% of them in favour of keeping it – the Town of Cambridge  has announced it will seek Expressions of Interest to repurpose the building, to give it a new lease on life.

So if any cafe owners, stand up paddle board operators, fishing and bait stores, small bars or other business are looking for a direct beachside presence in an icon of Perth architecture, please get in touch, I’d love to help this building find it’s next use…

I consider this a win for Perth’s unsung history and heritage, and I’m not finished yet!
